PR IMMERSIONS PDF Print E-mail

The Public Relations profession in Kenya has witnessed tremendous growth in the last decade a factor that is evident from the interest and investment by academic institutions and corporate organizations in PR as a curriculum and a profession.

This growth especially in the academic sector has led to a large number of budding PR professionals seeking direct employment or internship opportunities at corporate organizations though the great divide between theory and practice of the PR profession is a glaring reality. Many a time, practitioners have been faced with challenges in respect to accommodating these up and coming professionals due to their lack of experience and knowledge.

With the increasing need for technical skills and best practices, we at PRSK have in turn created a forum dubbed PR Immersions for Young Professionals that enables experienced PR practitioners impart practical knowledge on diverse issues, trends and best practices to budding PR professionals. The forum shall run on select evenings whereby PRSK shall invite an experienced practitioner who will give a practical presentation on one topic of PR and thereafter allow for a question and answer session.

As has been our tradition, our focus is geared towards students studying communication with a focus on PR in 3rd and 4th Year. This opportunity shall offers students good insight into the actual practice of the profession in Kenya, network with an experienced practitioner and join the Society as Student Members.

So far PRSK has held Five PR Immersions at University of Nairobi and Kenya Methodist University (KEMU).
